Professional Body Waxing Services in Detroit

Eden provides both hard and soft wax to ensure unwanted hair is removed safely and effectively. Soft wax (also referred to as strip wax) is applied very thin, then an epilating strip is applied over top. Once the strip is removed the wax, hair, and follicle are also removed in the process. Hard wax is applied in thicker layers (no waxing strip is needed), the wax must harden for a bit, then the wax itself is removed also removing the hair by the follicle. If the client has no preference, the wax or combination will be selected that will work the best for that particular client and waxing situation.

What is waxing?

Waxing is the process of hair removal from the root by using a coating of a sticky substance, such as wax, to adhere to body or facial hair and then removing this covering thus removing the hair from the follicle. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for about 3-6 weeks although some clients will start to see some hair regrowth in about a week due to some of their hair being on a different human hair growth cycle. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face pubic hair, legs, arms, back, and abdomen.

Benefits of Body Waxing

It is a long-lasting method, the results will last around 3-6 weeks depending on the client and their consistency with waxing appointments. Because the hair is removed from the root and not the surface a wax will result in no rough stubble when the hair does grow back. Most clients experience a reduction in ingrown hairs or none at all in comparison to shaving. Areas that are repeatedly waxed over a long period of time often exhibit regrowth that is finer, softer, and sparser.

What to know about our waxing process

Preparing for a waxing appointment:

The hair to be waxed must be ¼ of an inch (about as long as a grain of rice) to receive any type of wax. Typically this is 3-6 weeks of growth depending on the client. Any shorter and the service will not be able to be performed until optimal hair length is achieved. Conversely, if the hair is very long, some clients find the experience to be a bit more unpleasant. It is not required, however, if a client wishes to trim prior to the service they may; it’s recommended to use a beard trimmer and of course not to make the hair shorter than ¼ of an inch. Also if a client wishes, they may take an over-the-counter pain medication prior to the appointment. It is not recommended to drink any alcohol prior to a wax, this thins the blood and can lead to unnecessary treatment bleeding. Please come to the appointment with your skin clean, dry, and free of any lotions or oils.

Reasons you would not be able to receive a wax:

  • taking blood-thinners

  • On Rx’s for autoimmune disease

  • Taking steroids

  • Psoriasis or eczema

  • Recent sunburn

  • Recent laser skin treatment

  • Rosacea or very sensitive skin

  • Recent medical or esthetician provided chemical peel

What to expect for your first appointment:

The service provider will go over what areas will be included in your wax and the different options available. If booking time permits, additional areas can sometimes be accommodated. The service provider will take you into a secure and private room. Directions will be provided and you will be given some privacy to get comfortable before your treatment. The technician will enter and begin the waxing process. Your comfort level is of the utmost importance and skill, care and precision can be expected. Once the hair is swiftly and safely removed a complimentary organic lavender and chamomile post-wax treatment will be applied.

Post Wax Care:

24-48 hours after a wax it is recommended to avoid

  • Excessive heat and sweating

  • Sun exposure

  • Fully submerging your body in water; no baths, hot tubs, pools, or lakes (a lukewarm shower is appropriate)

  • Any active skincare products

  • Sexual activity (pertains to intimate waxing only)

When the hair starts to grow back it is recommended to exfoliate the area daily or at least a few times a week. Do not shave between waxing appointments and be sure to rebook your next waxing appointment upon checkout to stay consistent.
